Outside of the Hospital
Dr. Isolina has many passions outside of the OR. She believes in the benefits of surgical mission-work, remains involved in the promotion of surgical education for rural/global/military physicians, and is a leisure equestrian.
Surgical Missions
In January 2023 Dr. Isolina travelled for a hernia mission trip sponsored by Surgical Outreach For Americas (SOFA) where they repaired nearly 100 hernias in 5 days. Learn more and donate here: https://surgicaloutreach.org/index.html
Surgical Education
Providing rural surgical services is a unique challenge for a surgeon. The resources can be isolating, the necessary skillset is much larger and the finances are difficult. These obstacles are similar amongst global health and military healthcare. HMC is recognized nationally for its success in providing quality rural surgical care and thus remains the launching pad for promoting improved training in these areas.
